The JOY. The LOVE. The BEAUTY.
I tried hard to capture the beauty that was all around me on this day, but I kept getting lost in it. I found myself taking a picture but then stopping to really take in everything that I was seeing. The years of beautiful friendships, the immense love that everyone had for one another and a sweet daughter trying hard to make the day one to remember for her beautiful mom.
To be honest, it made me keep thinking about my mom and I had to hold back tears. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it is such an honor when I get to photograph and be a part of a family's special event and this 80th birthday was truly special. Truthfully, I think everything that came and will come after Covid just feels even more special but maybe that's just me?
The best part was not only being able to do what I love and capture the memories that were being made that day, but I loved hearing the stories. Friends and family shared stories of how they met, past memories and important events in their lives with me. I took it all in that day and later, as I went through the gallery of pictures, each picture and every face were filled with even more beauty, more meaning, more love. The history, the details, the memories, all of it mattered and it was all so beautiful.
Watching so many friends and family come together to celebrate the life, 80 years, of someone they all loved was beyond heartening and comforting after these last couple of years. There was so much laughter reminiscing about the past and sharing life now and I wanted to make sure that I got it all.
"The best things in life are the people we love, the places we've been and the memories we've made along the way." These things made this memorable day what it was. BEAUTIFUL.
